Hey there!I'm Simon, a freelance UX Designer from Manchester, UK.

What I do.

Problem Discovery

Good design solves problems.

I can help you to uncover those tricky problems that frustrate your customers. And I'll work with you to pinpoint opportunities that improve user experience and your business goals.

Workshop Facilitation

Sometimes, there's nothing better than getting people in a room, talking about problems and thrashing out ideas.

I can help you to facilitate productive workshops. Whether that's a half-day problem-solving session or a week-long design sprint.

Prototypes & Usability Testing

Guessing is risky. And building the wrong thing? That's even riskier!

You could leave your customers frustrated whilst wasting precious time and money.

Reduce the risk. I can help you prototype concepts and test them with your customers, remotely or in person.

UI Design

Wireframes and prototypes are great for testing. But they leave a lot to be desired when creating incredible experiences.

I can help you to design interfaces that are a delight for your users – without sacrificing usability.

About Me.

I love solving problems. It's what gets me out of bed in the morning. And it's what's kept me going for over 11 years in my UX design career.

In particular, I love solving those tricky tech problems. The ones that are frustrating to solve but result in unforgettable user experiences and help businesses to grow.

Where I've been.

After completing my Graphic Design degree at Salford Uni in 2012, I landed my first job at Manchester design agency RetroFuzz.

I was there for 5 years, and it's where I learnt my craft. I also worked with some seriously cool clients. After all, it's not every day you work with a race car brand.

After 5 years at RetroFuzz, I moved to MAG-O (now CAVU), Manchester Airport Group's digital division. There I led the design across three product teams and helped to deliver digital experiences for passengers. This included an airport companion app, a duty-free e-commerce experience, and an airport transfers booking journey.

Where I'm going.

In 2020, just as the pandemic became a thing, I took the frightening leap into freelancing.

I've since worked with both big businesses and small startups to help improve their digital products and experiences.

At the start of 2023, I created my first SaaS business, TinySurvey. It's a micro survey tool that helps product folk to make better product decisions.

I'll be blogging about my product journey on this site, so check back occasionally if you'd like to follow along.

Let's work together.
